In this series, I work while listening to lively music. I begin with energetic expressive lines and wide open arm movements. As I paint the tempo or beat of what I am hearing courses through my body onto the canvas. The intensity I bring to this work has a rhythmic pattern of rising and falling as I consider what is emerging. I tend to choose neutrals or subdued color because I want the feeling of movement or energy to grab one’s focus rather than bold color. As I progress, each line, brush stroke, and mark creates a cadence that contributes to the composition and story.
